CATSA2022 Conference

Message From The Chair

Over the last 3 decades, CATSA conferences have become a regular meeting place for scientists and researchers from academia and industry all over the globe, providing a forum to discuss important challenges in the field of catalysis. Following the successes of the past CATSA conferences, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the organizing committee to the 32 nd CATSA conference, another forum for more scientific and social interaction and networking, during November 13-16, 2022 at the luxurious Champagne Sports Resort in the Central Drakensberg in KwaZulu-Natal. Themed Integration and Synergies between Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis, the conference will cover all major aspects of catalysis and show how these work in tandem to develop new types of catalysts and catalytic processes that are central to the future of a sustainable chemical industry and the environment.

The conference will bring together over 200 participants comprising leaders and future leaders from academia, industry and government laboratories, to discuss, disseminate information and share ideas on advancing theoretical and practical concerns in the field with a combination of keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations. The social events in the evenings will provide an opportunity to network with other delegates. I am especially pleased to announce the participation of Prof. Charles Sykes (Tufts University, Massachusetts, USA), an internationally renowned expert in the fields of surface science and catalysis, as our Eminent Visitor awardee. Apart from sharing his expertise with us at the meeting in a plenary lecture, he will also visit a few universities to engage with students and supervisors in serious and not so serious discussions. The conference site is the Champagne Sports Resort nestled in the picturesque Central Drakensberg of KwaZulu-Natal province boasting state-of-the-art conferencing facilities and luxury accommodation.

I am looking forward to meeting you during CATSA2022 and to sharing a most pleasant, interesting and fruitful conference.

– John Moma, PhD, University of the Witwatersrand, Conference Chair.
